Reflection

The discussion on the game played showed that most of the students did not really know the aim of it. The notes copied helped them to know the listening strategies and the game.

Behavioural Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students are able to

1. know the effects of smoking to lungs and one's health.

Activities 

1. Show pictures of lungs.

2. Discuss the effects of smoking to one's health.

3. Vocabulary.

4. Building sentences individually based on the selected vocabulary.

5. The ss write their sentence on the blackboard.

6. Do corrections.

Moral Values

Appreciation on life, respects, be considerate.

Reflection 

The ss were very interested with the pictures shown. They participated in the discussion accordingly. The ss were provided with a dictionary and facilitated by the teacher to do the sentence. However, there were still around 40% of the ss showed no attempt to learn.

2. The students write their answers on the blackboard. Discuss.

3. The teacher discusses the notes on three common forms of note-taking.

4. Class activity: Two listening texts on using forms of note-taking.


 

Reflection

The ss were able to understand the note-taking techniques. They, however, were confused with the difference between abbreviations and short forms. They were given a set of standard short forms in order to clarify its difference from abbreviations. They enjoyed the listening activity and more than 80% of them could give appropriate answers even though they found that the listening texts were too fast for them to catch.

2. know how to obtain specific information by noting key words or making short notes based on the questions given and text heard.

3. use note-taking forms to make notes while listening to the text.

1. Revise the previous lesson on the general listening strategies and note-

taking techniques.

2. The students copy the notes on Listening for Specific Information on the

blackboard. Discuss.

3. Class activity: i. Listening to the and answer the questions given.

ii. Listening to the text and making notes by drawing

appropriate forms of note-taking.

4. Discuss the answers and tips to answer.

Reflection

All of the ss could give appropriate answers with minor errors like grammatical mistakes. However, they were unable to catch every detail because the listening texts were read too fast for their first time exercise. More exercises will be given in the later lessons.

3. Class activity: i. Copy as many abbreviations, short forms and symbols as

possible which one can find in the dictionary provided.

Reflection

The ss have not mastered the skills to use a dictionary. The teacher facilitated the ss to do the exercise individually.
